i need my ip address, subnet mask and gateway for my xbox live. But do i need to enable my DHCP on my computer for my xbox live to work? HELP!

I know you have to use the ethernet cord or wireless adapter to connect the xbox360 to xbox live but how would you connect my modem the ethernet cord and a low end switch so that I get internet through my modem and xbox live through the ethernet switch at the same time.

Question Details: I’m trying to connect my xbox to xbox live via xbox 360 wireless adapter. it says that i am connected to my wireless network but it cannot obtain an IP address. It might be because my router is not DHCP enabled.
What does this mean and how do i find out if my router is DHCP enabled?

I want to get xbox live and I am going to use an ethernet cable but the thing is in my modem the ethernet hole is already taken up by some other ethernet cable connecting to my PC! Help!!!!!!!

I have a friend on Xbox Live who has a bridged connection so that his Xbox can get internet through his computer. He is able to use a VPN IP Address when he connects to Xbox Live. Does anyone know how I can establish this?

Im looking to purchase a set of plugs so that I can use them for my xbox live which has an ethernet port. If these powerline plugs can support my needs then I dont have to send a forest of wires through my living room. My room is around 8ish metres away from the router.
