What would make my computer not recognize my ethernet cord?

My internet will not work when connected to the modem with an ethernet cord, only with the USB cable. In order to get my wireless router to work it needs to be connected with the ethernet cord. Does anybody know what might be causing this and how I can fix it?

How do I network my house using ethernet cable?

Hi there. I am currently wanting to make a wired network to save buying a wireless router. The house is unfinished so holes can still be made. I need network modular outlets in 6 rooms, I want to use some type of ethernet cable and connect wire them up to a multi outlet on a wall elsewhere. This is so I can connect to these, without there being loads of wires everywhere. The problem is I don’t know which ethernet wire to buy, and also I don’t know which outlets, tools etc. I need to buy also. I preferably would like the network to have speed of about 1gb. Also I was wondering whether someone could tell me how to wire these, and if there is a specific way of wiring them. Thankyou so much.

How to hook up wireless internet using ethernet?

Hi,
I live in an on-campus apartment at my university. We don’t get wireless, but have one ethernet connection in each room. Is there a way to set up a wireless router or other device just using the data/ethernet connections so that more than one of use can use the internet in a room? If so, what would I need to buy? I don’t know too many things about how this stuff works, so any help would be great! Thanks!

How to change DHCP server on Linksys WRT54GS?

My existing DHCP is a private 10.xxx.xxx.xxx Address. How do I get it to stop pumping out 192.168.1.xxx? I have tried everything I know so please help.

How do I run signal to a wireless router, from an ethernet card?

I get my internet stream from my free city wireless provider. The stream enters my computer through a linksys network adapter with three antennas and an amplifier built in. It feeds an internal card. It works really well and I’d like to continue using it, but I want to send it to other computers in my apartment via wireless connection.

I want to use an ethernet card in an adjacent slot to feed a router that will transmit wireless signal across my apartment. For some reason the router will not install when attached to the output of the ethernet card. Should I just use a cross-over cable? Normally you run a ethernet cable from the wall to the router, to all of the computers, but I don’t have this ‘wall jack’ feature in my apartment.

Much obliged.

How do I network one printer onto my 2 computers wirelessly connected to each other?

I am using the AT&T "2 wire" wireless router. I have an HP printer that is already connected to the one downstairs. I made that printer a shared printer, but the other computer still isn’t detecting it on the network. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How to setup a DHCP server for a wireless router?

Last night I went and purchased a "wifi max" wireless router, only to find I did not have a DHCP server. I went and downloaded one, but don’t know how to setup the DHCP server on my wireless router.

Things that may help:
I have Windows XP Office
My wireless router has NO space on it to save things to. Yeah, it prettymuch sucks -.-.
WiFi MAX by Datel.
Unsure of the model, but it’s a WiFi MAX for PSP and DS. And it’s black.
I probably look like a total retard here, but I asked a question here a minute ago about how to get my DNS address so I could manually put it in because my newly installed DHCP server didn’t seem to be helping me out much and some guy told me I had to setup my DHCP server onto my wireless router. I just wanna state here that I’m not claiming to be computer-knowledgable in any way and if things seem peculiar to you it’s probably just that I’m wrong lol. I’m just a 15 year old kid trying to set up wifi.
