Hi, I have two huge files (ISO files) on a laptop which I need to transfer to another laptop. The files are each over 8GB in size so I can’t use my flash drive or cds (I don’t have any around). Is there a way I can hook up the two laptops with an ethernet cable and transfer the files? What are the actual steps I need to follow?

I connected one end of an Ethernet cable to my laptop and the other end to a Linksys router/switch. Then I connected another Ethernet cable between the router and a desktop computer. Now when I go to control panel >> Network and Sharing Center, I see the new connection under "unidentified network".

But now what? How can I set up a peer to peer network between the two computers so that they can share files. I don’t care about sharing an internet connection, just about sharing files.

I am using a router to connect two computers to one internet connection using an ethernet connector. But I only got one ethernet cable and I need two. Can I used the telephone jack/cable connector?

I have a laptop connected to the internet through a wireless modem and a desktop. I want to use the wireless connection that the laptop is receiving and connect the desktop to the internet through an ethernet cable between the two computers.

Both computers are running Windows XP Pro SP3.
Edit: I have a crossover cable.

I would like to wire my two computers together so that data could be transferred. Both computers have an available ethernet port. I have additional ethernet cables available. How do these cables differ from the crossover variety? How much should I expect to spend on a crossover cable?

There was a network connection between the two computers before the desktop crashed. They are both using Windows XP. After the desktop crashed, a new hard drive was installed. Help and/or detailed instructions with advice on how to network my desktop and laptop again would be greatly appreciated.

Well, me and my friend are trying to LAN two computers to play Warcraft III and Company of Heroes. However, he only has wireless internet, and my desktop only connects through ethernet. What I am wondering is if there is a way to connect my ethernet cable into my ethernet cable jack, and the other end into his ethernet jack and then LAN. If there is a way, if someone could please tell me what to do I would be very grateful. Regards.

I am planning on building a computer – but I feel on my last two computers I built that my motherboard limited the efficency of the other components I used.

I am knowledgable about all computer hardware except how to pick the best mobo for the job.

Does anyone know if there is a website or somesuch to help show how to pick the best motherboard for the computer you are building?

Any help would eb greatly appreciated!
