So my defragmenter takes about 1 hour to get 10% done. Since my fan is really loud, i cant leave it on over night. Is it okay to pause my defrager and turn my computer off or put it on sleep?

I want to defrag my computer once a week; If I put my laptop in sleep mode will it still defrag?
Thanks for those answering. I have another question: Does a laptop’s battery shorten if you’re charging the laptop while at the same time using it?

For the first time, I had the kernal panic message (you need to restart your computer) pop up on my screen a couple minutes ago. Never happened before. I’ve also had it where twice this past week I’ve been listening to music through headphones in my MacBook and I pull the computer close to me, and it’ll randomly go into sleep mode.

I think it’s my CPU fan. It does get pretty hot. Am I right?

Hey I want to have my computer defrag everynight but I want to know if there a way cause I put my computer to sleep and I would like it to wake up at 4 in the morning and run a defrag but I set it in the skedule and it didn’t wake the computer up it just skip it so is there a way to do if you know that would be awsome. O yea I also want it to go back to sleep to when it’s done thanks

I have a PS3 and I stream all my content from my laptop to the system through Windows 7 media server. However, when I close my laptop’s lid and put it to sleep, the server logs off. Is there any way for the server to keep running while the computer is "sleeping"?

Specifically for windows server 2008?
I need a free program that can start a server and put it to sleep mode.
Is there anything like that?
