What is the best way to network Xp and Vista? Please Help.

I have:
1x Xp Home Desktop Wireless
1x Xp Home Laptop Wireless
1x Xp Profesional Desktop Wireless
1x Vista Home Premium Laptop Wireless

They are all conected to the internet wirelessly through a Lynksys Modem but i would like to create a network to share files wirelessly.

I only have 1 ethernet cord, and two computers that need to be hooked up together to share files. Is it possible? If so, how. If you would need any additional programs please list them. Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have two huge files (ISO files) on a laptop which I need to transfer to another laptop. The files are each over 8GB in size so I can’t use my flash drive or cds (I don’t have any around). Is there a way I can hook up the two laptops with an ethernet cable and transfer the files? What are the actual steps I need to follow?

I have been trying unsuccessfully to connect my computer to the shared network in order to view and use other people’s files. I can connect to the internet fine, but the shared file network, which everyone else is on fine, doesn’t work. My computer shows up as being on the network infrequently on other people’s computers but I cannot view any of the shared folders.

I have no router, just a network switch. I don’t really need internet access on the client machine.

Anyhow, how do I set it up so both computers can share files and printer access?
Is a crossover cable different from a standard ethernet cable?

I have the printer directly connected to one computer. The computer is connected to the switch, and the switch connects to the other computer.

Do I need to map the drives in order to share files?

I have a laptop with vista that has wireless but a desktop with xp that doesn’t have a wireless card. I have an ethernet cable and I need to get all my files off my desktop and on to my laptop. Are there any steps to do with besides just connecting them with the cable?
