How do I connect a device to my wireless network when that device does not have a wireless card?
I have a DVR that can be hooked up to my home network if I had a network cable. However, running a network cable from the router to the device is not an option. Is there a way to link the DVR to the network by wireless? It does not have a built in wireless card. There is a RJ-45 connection and a USB connection available on the back of the DVR.
What would the addressing be in a network with multiple networks?
For instance, say I had a Small Office Home Office (SOHO) and I have my modem connected to a switch that connects to two different routers. One router for my home network and one router for my office network. I want to prevent the workers in the office from accessing the home network.
Say there are 3 computers connected to the home network and 4 computers connected to the business network.
What would the addressing scheme look like?
My router shows three DHCP Clients but I have only one computer connected?
It shows three MAC’s and three Ip’s but i only have 1 pc connected to the router and I have setup a password to connect and I have told no one. Does this mean people are stealing my internet?
How can I delete my web browsing history from the server at work?
I have obtained full administrator rights, but need to know where to go to delete the logs. I have been on the web a bit too much in the last few months (instead of working) and don’t want to get in trouble. We are running Server 2003. Thanks!
Stop Press, I have managed it!! The default gateway turned out to be our router not the server 2003 machine after all. We are using proxy server software called Mailgate – I have located the and ‘lost’ the logs on the machine runnign the mailgate proxy (which is in fact a win98 machine at the back of the server room) Phew!
Now no one will discover my misuse of company time on Ebay! (I hope)
Thanks for your help guys!
Can I use the unused ethernet port on a wireless computer to share internet with something else?
I have a computer that has a wireless connection to my router. I want to connect something that isn’t wireless and is in the same room as the computer but isn’t near the router. Can I use that unused ethernet port from that computer to connect the other device to the network?
I am able to connect to a VPN Network, but lose my general internet connection. How can I fix this?
I think this has something to do with a setting in the gateway or DNS. I am not sure how to configure this. I am able to use another computer through the same router to connect, so I know its not that. Also, I am able to browse the internet fine after VPN has been shut down. Please Help!

Does a DHCP server necessarily have to be the same machine as the router, or can a separate machine do it?
I would like ip addresses to be doled out by a different machine than the one I have taking care of NAT and routing. Am I going to run into problems when I try it?
