Some games just list, for instance 8200 geforce or higher?

But a particular ATI card is possibly equal to or greater then that nvidia card. Does it matter if the ati card is listed, or if radeon card arnt listeD? Sometimes it doesnt even say OR direct x 9 compatible.

I am deciding between two laptops. I like them both very much but the graphics card vary on both.

1. Dell XPS M1710 with a Nvidia Geforce 7950 GTX
2. Hewlett Packard Pavilion Dv9590 with a Nvidia GeForce 8600M

I know that the 7950 is a much much better card but i am a very keen gamer and i want a card that will please me in the future too. The 8600 has DirectX10 but the 7950 doesn’t.

I really dont know what to go for, on one hand i dont want to be stuck with the 7950 that will play amazing now but nothing in the future due to no DX10 support. I know the 8600 is a good card now, but what will it be like in terms of DX10. If its only ‘good’ (rather than great) for DX9 will it be an average card supporting DX10?

I have an 8200 right now and no new games can run off of this dumb graphics card. I was wondering if it is possible to remove, and replace it with the better Nvidia GeForce 8800 graphics card?

because i’ve seen geforce cards (and i know they’re Nvidia) but with different names like galaxy and such and is a lower price, what’s the difference? should i get the cheaper one or save for the Nvidia ones?

I was looking at a studio xps 13. It has NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M. I think this graphics card has shared memory. Will this enhance the performance or decrease it for gaming. Is there any memory reserved?
