I’ve had my PC for 2 years approx NEVER been defragged (bad i know) I have a Intel Quadcore 2.83Ghz, 3.25gb Ram, the HD’s im defragging are one of 465gb (149gb free space) & one of 683gb (519GB free space)

Would I be best to defrag overnight?

I was thinking i could possible get mysql to store the entire db in memory, when writes are done to it to HD, etc.

Without the audio and video getting out of sync etc. I have a 2GHz Intel Core2 Duo CPU with 1GB RAM, do you think it should be enough?
I have a 23" full HD LCD monitor attached to my laptop.
I have 256 MB graphics memory.

I’m considering buying a Media Center PC (or perhaps waiting for Vista), but have no idea how much hard drive memory I need! I want to record movies from TV onto my HD but how much space do they chew up? Obviously it’ll range based upon the length of the movie and the quality but say it’s a 2 hour movie recorded ‘good’ quality – how much memory will i be using?

I am planning to build a new computer but keeping the same HD, CD drive and cpu. Will my old cpu (Pentium D 2.8ghz duel core) in my dell xps 400 work with my new computer?

I’m trying to compare it to my current graphics card. I am a gamer and I definitely need an upgrade. Unfortunately, I have to find something that is AGP compatible. So… it would be awesome if I could find out what the Nvidia equivalent to a Sapphire Radeon HD 3850 Video Card would be.

What is an inexpensive way to get at my data? I have no cable or controller card. I could accept a solution with USB, PCI, EISA, or whatever will work, but I don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars.

What is the nvidia equivalent to the ATI Radeon HD 5750
