I have a very crappy computer. It’s a vista 32-bit with 1 gig of ram, a 1.8 GHz processor, and a low quality graphics card. What advantage does shared memory have in a graphics card?
I got the GeForce 8400M GS graphics card with my notebook. It has 64 MB of dedicated memory. It has a lot of shared memory (767 MB). On some applications, when I try to use certain graphics features, I get an error message saying that I need more than 64 MB of video card memory to run the feature. Shouldn’t that shared memory kick in and save me from having this problem?
What desktop graphics card compares to the Nvidia GeForce 310M?
My laptop has a Nvidia GeForce 310M in it. It’s not a bad GPU because I’m able to play Crysis and GTA4 on med – high settings on highest resolution and it still plays smooth. I’m actually very impressed with the 310M. I was just wondering what desktop graphics card it compares to.
I was kind of thinking it compares to the Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9100 internal graphics card, and it crashes ALL THE TIME. It does it mainly when I am watching live tv through windows media center. I have tried a lot of different things including updating the drivers, stopping certain processes, and using windows update.
