How much memory should a video card have?

I’m going to buy a new video card, but I just need it for streaming videos and for playing Onlive games.

Would a video card with 128mb of memory be enough, or should I buy one with at least 256mb of memory?

How can I make programs use more RAM and less CPU?

A lot of the time when I play certain games, or sometimes even use big programs my CPU fan goes crazy (I’m on a laptop). The temperature goes up to 80 degrees Celsius, but my ram is only at 35% usage (out of 2gigs so about 700mb). So, how can I make programs generally use more RAM and less CPU, if possible?

What's the difference in building a cpu for gaming and building one for 3d rendering?

I’m planning to start saving up for a cpu that will allow me to do low-medium 3d rendering projects while at the same time play newer games. I’ve been browsing in forums and people have been saying that they were only looking for 3d rendering CPUs and not for gaming. Is there a difference between the two? (is a gaming pc more powerful than a 3d rendering pc?)

How do I change how much CPU power is devoted to helping my graphics card?

I was changing my settings for my new graphics card for maximum performance while I was really tired, and set the max cpu power devoted to aid my card to 100% (i know im dumb) And i cant remember how to fix it.
Oh also, it’s making my games and other applications run extremely slow, and games have become jumpy, it’s a nvidia card btw.

How good is it to DeFrag?

I have steam at home (a program that u can buy games off) and im running counter strike source. When i play counter strike source it lags a bit so i did attempted to defrag it. How much better will counter strike play considering that its 22% fragmentation. Also will defragging the hole hardrive improve the performance on counter strike aswell or no because i’ve already defragged the game?

How do you allow more memory for certain websites?

This is especially for games. I remember seeing windows pop up saying that a website requests more memory on my computer. For my game (quickhit football), it is saying it has no more memory, and I think I need to give it more space. How should I go about this?
Well, I think it’s because game data is stored (on cookies?). And I only allow the website to store a limited amount of game data on my computer.

Is there a difference between video memory and virtual memory?

I am playing I game I bought and every time I open it up, a warning box comes up saying "video memory is low" I did a search and all I come up with is virtual memory information. I have other purchased games but do not get this message. Any way to fix it?

why do cpu sockets change so frequently compaired to the other parts on a computer?

I just feel like the manufacturers could make better use of the existing technology. Instead of adding more cores for multitasking why don’t they just put more cache and actually make the cpus faster in raw speed. I can’t play games and check my email at the same time so why are they taking a perfictly good size cpu socket and making it obsolete?
