What is the recommended hardware config for a dedicated server?
I am looking to build a Pc to use as a dedicated server. I know that I don’t need to spend top dollar on alot of the components to build it but, what parts should i spend the extra bucks on?
How could you start a private network for your computers at home without getting another ethernet cable?
If I had lots of computers and laptops laying around in my house and they’re all on the internet, how can I start a private network with each? I don’t have any extra ethernet cables either. I have the new AT&T internet and a couple spare old modems. Can I use those to start a private network just by switching the ethernet cables?
What’s the difference between Nvidia Graphics cards?
I am not very knowledgeable on this, but I can see no difference between the Nvidia GTX 280 XT and the Nvidia GTX 285 Black that warrants an extra £90 for the 285. Anyone care to explain this to me?
How do I add an extra ethernet port to my modem?
I have a Verizon DSL modem with only one ethernet port, and I need to be able to support 2 computers that can both be connected at the same time. We’ve tried a router, and it didn’t really work so well (kept losing the connection to the internet). I’ve heard that they sell splitters for ethernet cables. Would they work, and support 2 simultaneously active connections? Are there any other solutions? Thanks!
