Networking question:How can I be sure I'm not allowing others to access my computer via my wireless network?
I was just looking at my network configurations, and I wanted to know how I can be sure I’m not allowing my neighbors and/or others to access my computer without my permission. I access the internet via a hardwired connection; however, I also have a wireless connection and router that is hooked up.
Thanks!
Please give specific instructions—I’m not great with computers.
Thanks!
How do I connect to this network on my DS using the Wifi Connection?
First I used my computer to find out what networks are within my range. The networks that showed up were Keith and linksys. I turned on my DS and searched for these access points but the signals weren’t strong enough to use those networks. Then I searched for a wireless access point on my DS and on my computer at the same time and a new network came up, hpsetup. It said it was a computer to computer network. I tried connecting to it on my DS and even though it had full bars it said that it couldn’t connect. I tried on my computer and it connected but it couldn’t reach any web pages. How do I get it to work?
This is a Wifi connection, the ones that let you play with any one in the world. I’m not talking about those games that you have to be right next to the person in order for it to work.
How do you restrict a computer to just one wireless network?
I have a younger brother who has a tendency to connect to our neighbor’s unsecured wireless network that has faster internet rather than our own. His computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium. Is it possible to restrict his computer to just connect to our network? I’ve removed the other network from his preferred network list, but he still connects manually. Can anything be done?

How secure are my shared folders on a unsecure wireless network?
I have a secure wireless network that I added shared files to. I feel that my computer is safe on my network. But, if I go to a coffeehouse or the library, with my laptop, and use their network, will I be sharing my folders with everybody on that network?
