My computer is not starting up when I push the start button. It doesn’t have any CD(/DVD) drives.

Is it essential for a CPU unit to have a cd drive installed in order to start up?

How do you attach a dvd drive to a cpu whiah already contains a cd drive withou removing the cd drive.
Ps: i intend to use both drives.
But isn’t the hard disk set as master already?
Or do i need a new IDE cable?

I am planning to build a new computer but keeping the same HD, CD drive and cpu. Will my old cpu (Pentium D 2.8ghz duel core) in my dell xps 400 work with my new computer?

I actually have the installation discs but my CD Drive doesn’t work any longer. Is there a way I can put the files on an external hard drive and do a target to reformat the computer.

The problem is, there is two discs that would have to be used in the reformat process.

If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated. I have asked this question multiple times and no one answers the question correctly.

I want to know if how i can reformat my laptop to windows xp when my cd/dvd rom drive is malfunctioned. my bios only support boot in hdd, cd/dvd,fdd and Lan. thanks =)

My dvd drive is broken so i cant use my cd, but i need to reformat. I have the original cd but cant use my dvd drive.

So is it possible to reformat without using the cd?

One of my PC computers has messed up. I think it is a virus/viruses from the way it acted. I put the cd Windows disk in the cd drive, but the computer does not reconized that there is a cd drive when I enter "My Computer." What is going on, and how do I reformat my hard drive and reload the Windows disk?

My PC is getting slow and I want to reformat and reinstall XP to give my PC a fresh start. I have a XP installer CD with licensed serial key but I don’t have a CD drive. I tried copying the installer CD to a thumb drive (formatted @ FAT32) but it is just installing XP and not formatting my C drive. Any suggestions?
