It also fills in gaps created by deleting files, giving you more continuous free space. Basically, it makes reading and writing files faster. Get PerfectDisk or some other defraging program.

What defraging does it move around the bits on your hard drive so that files are continuous and the hard drive doesnt have to skip around to read one file. It also fills in gaps created by deleting files, giving you more continuous free space.
